April 1st, 2008 -

It's no April Fool's joke.    Mike's recently completed Honor Bound script has received the coveted "Recommended" designation by Script P.I.M.P!

Honor Bound is a drama-suspense story centered around so-called Honor Killings.

While the crimes are prevalent (and often un-prosecuted) in many middle-eastern countries, our story takes place primarily in America, where a young Muslim woman's uncle and brother have come to hunt her down and carry out their grisly act.

Her crime?    She was raped by another man.

Mike Amato has just completed work on a new comedy/horror script entitled Living in Limbo.    The story is about the aftermath of a massive zombie attack in the United States.    The "survivors", called Zombies-In-Transition, are given medication that prevents them from fully mutating into flesh-eating zombies.    But their real struggle will be trying to fit back into mainstream society, which has little use for slow-moving, decomposing former humans who smell of death and have no sense of feeling.    And while some of the Z.I.T's try desperately to fit in, others - embittered by the growing prejudice against them - begin to question whether they should keep taking their medication at all.

Mike recently completed his treatment for the high-tech conspiracy thriller  Plug 'N Play, and has already started on the script

February 28th, 2005 -

Murderer's Row will go out today to 20-30 production companies in and around Tinsel Town, courtesy of Underground Management.

Also, Mike's previous script, Gray Matter, recently made the quarterfinalists list for three different screenplay contests - The American Screenwriters Association, Fade In Magazine and The American Screenwriting Awards (all three contests are still in progress).

Several months ago, Mike was invited to pitch a story idea for an affair thriller to Brent Ratner's production company (Red Dragon, Rush Hour).  The opportunity was considered an extreme long shot and they wound up going with a more established writer.

But New Line shot the idea down, and it seems that Ratner's company can't get Mike's pitch out of its head.  They've now asked to see some of Mike's previous scripts!

Meanwhile, Mike will soon begin work on his next screenplay, a high-tech conspiracy thriller tentatively entitled Plug 'N Play.
