About the Movie
Five high-school students sit around a table in a finished basement, cutting pictures of students and teachers out of a yearbook and pasting them into a “Burn Book”. As each picture is pasted, they regale each other with a juicy rumor, mean story or derisive comment about the person in the photo. Then, beneath each picture, a nasty comment is scrawled with a permanent magic marker.
This takes place as the host’s parents waltz in and out of the room, oblivious to, or perhaps too harried to notice, the activity. As the conversation continues, it becomes apparent that each person in the room has a personal issue with one or more of the people in the book. But one of them is becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the tone of the conversation and begins to suspect that the book may be distributed at school. Will she stand up for what she knows is right before things spiral out of control, or succumb to peer pressure from the rest of the group?
