Claire - A normally well-balanced teen who becomes bitter after her relationship with the high school's star quarterback is obliterated by an ugly (and untrue) rumor about her. Now she is dating Paul, but their relationship has turned sour due to his chronic drug use and the fact that she still harbors feelings for her ex. But is she looking for closure, or revenge?

Matt - Frequently picked on and dissed because of his height, he stockpiles his resentment. It is his idea to pull together a book that will trash all of the group's enemies. But despite the abuse he has endured from others, he is strangely confident.

Paul - A former athlete and good student who's world is now crumbling due to his drug use, and who blames everyone but himself for his problems. Supremely jealous of Claire, who he knows he does not deserve.

Nicole- She prefers to march to her own drummer, especially when it comes to her goth attire. But she has paid an emotional price for this independence, thanks to insults from more popular girls at school. And despite her tough exterior, she allows herself to be influenced by others in the group.

Brian - Still coming to terms with his homosexuality, he's unprepared for the cruel wrath of intolerance that is unleashed upon him at school. But despite his sensitivity, he is determined not to let it change who he is.
